Atomic Sunset just won a cool award! Indie Book Award 2026 for Fiction-Humor!

I’m very happy to announce that Atomic Sunset has been named a Finalist in the 2025 American Writing Awards — and yes, I’m wearing the sticker on my forehead.
AND a Winner — 2025 Literary Global Book Awards (Fiction–Humor)
AND a Winner of the 2026 Indie Book Award (Fiction - Humor)
I write my books with heart, humour, and a slightly chaotic imagination, so seeing Atomic Sunset recognized like this means more than I can say. It’s one thing to publish a book and hope readers will enjoy it; it’s another to have it acknowledged by an award panel. I’m grateful — and honestly a little in awe.
This story grew out of my love for small towns, oddball characters, desert skies, and mysteries that bend reality just a little. I never expected Jane Dougherty’s adventures in Radio Springs to end up on any kind of shortlist, but here we are — and it feels wonderful.
Whether you’ve read the book, shared it, reviewed it, borrowed it, recommended it, or simply cheered me on: thank you. Your support is a huge part of why this book continues to find its readers.
And now Atomic Sunset gets to wear a shiny finalist badge, which I fully intend to show off at every opportunity — with only a modest amount of Canadian humility.
More adventures (and misadventures) to come.
