Rustwater Is Here. And This One Has Pictures.

Posted by BackPack Books on

Apparently, three books into the Jane Dougherty series, I have finally discovered what readers have been waiting for.

Pictures.

Rustwater, the third Jane Dougherty adventure, is now available in paperback and Kindle.

This time, Jane is headed to Rustwater, Arizona—a desert town with very little water, rather a lot of rust, and more conspiracy theories than permanent residents.

She isn't supposed to be solving anything. She's supposed to be taking photographs.

That goes about as well as you'd expect.

Before long there are two Swiss tourists, four donkeys, a suspiciously silent train, a dead municipal inspector, an alarming amount of red dust, and several perfectly reasonable people offering completely unreasonable explanations.

And then there's the Old Spur Society.

The local group has been investigating unexplained happenings in the area for years, and some of their finest work appears at the back of the book in excerpts from Unsolved Mysteries of Old Spur, Vol. 4.

Complete with photographic evidence.

The photographs are deliberately corny, homemade and just dubious enough to represent the sort of evidence collected by people who have spent entirely too much time discussing Bigfoot over coffee.

In other words, I love them.

If you've read Atomic Sunset and Two Hours to Bedlam, you'll find Jane and geologist Clay Harrow back on Route 66, along with the usual collection of people who really ought to know better.

If you haven't read the first two?

Well.

Still not convinced? The third one has pictures.

Rustwater is available now.
